It’s (already!) the end of the year, and it always seems at this time, I realize how much money I didn’t get to save over the year. I start with the best intentions.. “I will save 10% of each paycheck..”
..And then the car breaks. And then its a trip to the Doctors Office. And then it’s somebody’s birthday and someone else has a wedding. I can never seem to find enough, so I decided that 2013 is the year to try something new.
Tada! The $5 savings plan. Its completely self explanatory, and seems like it would add up pretty quick! Whenever you find yourself with a $5 in your wallet, put it in a jar or piggy bank. At the end of the year, you can use it to buy Christmas gifts (those somehow sneak up on me EVERY year and my January credit card bill is out of control!) or a gift for yourself that you might not normally spend money on. Or, like I hope to do, you can put that money in the bank as a nice cushion or a future payment on a house. I’ve decided this is my first step to taking some control of my savings, even though I don’t make much!
Have you tried the $5 savings plan or are interested in participating as well?? Let me know! I’d love to hear from you!
