Trip Memories Frame

The boyfriend and I decided to take a late summer trip to Florida (to prolong the season! I am not at all a winter person) and were really quite sad to leave the beautiful beaches. We talk a lot of talk about traveling to destinations near and far, so I thought it’d be nice to find a way to remember each one of our trips and where we visited. I’ve been practically begging to go somewhere else recently, and I can’t really figure out whether it is just to make another frame or to actually get away (or both?) ๐Ÿ™‚ I was delighted with how this turned out and can’t wait to make another!

Supplies:
Walmart Wooden Frame (seriously! 97 cents!)
Maps
Elmers School Glue

I found at old atlas laying around the house from 2000 that is probably quite out of date. With the technology of GPS’s I couldn’t find any reason not to cut it up! This seemed to me like the mother load of maps because now no matter what state we visit, I have the map already there! If you do not have an atlas laying about, google has some great ones too.

I measured the frame onto the map and made sure our vacation spot was prominent on the frame. I left a little overlay on the edges and in the middle so that I could fold them down and make it look neat. I attached the map with Elmer’s to the frame. (This frame came with a little dowel for a stand. If you want to hang the photo, attach the map with the dowel hole at the top.. if not, proceed as usual) You do have some time to reposition if you don’t like it the first time you lay it down, but move quickly! Then I brushed 3 separate thin coats of Elmers over the top so it would leave a nice sealed shine. Insert a photo from our lovely vacation and I was done!

Okay, maybe I want a vacation because I really just want to get away – but the prospect of a new frame is pretty exciting too! ๐Ÿ™‚
